I like the idea of children acting out the parts as the story is being read. It is easy and enjoyable to listen to the story over and over. The story is read clearly and at a steady pace. This delightful audiobook starts out with lively fiddle music and animals sounds so you feel like you are on the farm. As you listen to the story you discover whose instructions brother Bob is following. So in normal fashion duck, whose pencil is always sharpened, begins leaving notes for Bob listing the animal’s requests. He also told him to keep an eye on DUCK because he IS TROUBLE. Farmer Brown lets his brother Bob know to be sure to follow his instructions for how to take care of the animals. But this time, Farmer Brown went on vacation and left his brother Bob in charge. Once again Farmer Brown’s animals are up to their normal shenanigans writing notes that explain their daily demands. This humorous story is a follow-up to the Caldecott Honor Book “ Click, Clack, Moo: Cows that Type”.

That is exactly what I did with author Doreen Cronin’s Giggle, Giggle, Quack.

So I decided why not listen to one of my favorite picture books instead of reading it. I love reading a good children’s book aloud and have been doing storytime for years, but these days more often than not, I listen to books for my own personal enjoyment.
